What Can Parents Do?
Parents should not wait for their child to outgrow their reading problem. They should not wait for their “immature” child to mature to correct their reading problems. The earlier a child is identified and remediated, the better chance their child has at fulfilling and reaching their potential. Parents should find an Orton-Gillingham Academy accredited tutor for their child. They should ask specific questions to the tutor: At what level of accreditation are you with the Academy? Who is your supervising Fellow? If the tutor cannot answer those two questions, they have not been Academy trained and supervised.
