Teacher Training Curriculum

Those interested in learning the Orton-Gillingham Approach may opt for three different training levels.

Classroom Educator

Classroom Educator is a thirty hour course designed for those interested in learning about dyslexia, brain research, and basic phonics. A practicum consisting of five formal observations and a minimum of fifty hours of instruction are required at this level. Review the Classroom Educator Syllabus.

Associate Training

Associate Training is a minimum of sixty hours of training designed for those interested in learning all topics taught in Classroom Educator as well as writing, grammar, and advanced phonics. A practicum consisting of ten formal observations and a minimum of one hundred hours of instruction is required for Academy accreditation. There is also a reading list and application process. Certified Training

Certified Training is one hundred hours of training designed for those interested in learning about severe cases of dyslexia and how to help students with more than one diagnosis. It builds upon the previous two levels and requires trainees to work with a beginner as well as an older or advanced student. The Certified practicum consists of ten formal observations and a minimum of two hundred hours of instruction for Academy accreditation. There is also a reading list and application process.
